In the Additional Boards Manager URLs field, add the following URL if it’s not already present:

[type or paste code here](https://arduino.esp8266.com/stable/package_esp8266com_index.json)

If there are already other URLs, separate each URL with a comma.
Click OK to save and close the Preferences window.
Go to Tools > Board > Boards Manager. In the Boards Manager search bar, type ESP8266.
Find "esp8266 by ESP8266 Community" and click Install.
