I'm beginning my first robotics project (using an Arduino Uno) and I hope I'm using the forum right!
I want to extend the wires on my small 6V servo (from Sparkfun) and since I'm working on a budget, I'd rather not buy anything. I was wondering if I could use those really thin jumper wires that come with electronics kits to use on breadboards to extend the wires already on them.
Depends on the wires. Some are far too thin for power connections in my experience. There is no
substitute for cutting one of the wires and seeing how much copper is in there. You can then look
up the current carrying ability in a table from the cross-section.
Servos demand 1A or more (depends on how powerful), so its very easy to get caught out which this
sort of issue - for instance breadboards aren't really designed for such currents, especially if old and tired
contacts...
