I waited too long for getting this done so there will be some chance about how well the new lenses suit me but the other choice is go completely blind. As long as it doesn't go completely bad it will be better than now, this is about how thick the glasses I will wear to read or do wiring will be, and even with dark theme it's hard enough to deal with the forum or IDE now. I gotta close one eye to do it at all!
If it starts getting hard to read, get to an eye doctor! Do not wait, do not lose time and be more frustrated, bite the bullet for your own sake.
It's worse for me on bright days, the glare. I have wrap-around sunglasses. Crossing the street is an adventure, it's a task to fill out a check. I rely on magnifiers in the best of light. When getting the process of see the doc to surgery takes months and the progression of losing sight is speeding up, it's a scare!
Do. Not. Wait. Do Not. Put. Off!
My late wife had both eyes done, never looked back, didn't need her prescription reading glasses anymore.
Eye specialist told us to go the Pharmacist and get a pair of magnifying reading glasses if she felt she needed them, no prescription.
I feel the pain, I had a retinal detachment 4 months ago, and I waited too long to get treated (thinking it was something else). I got surgery but now, my vision hasn't fully returned even with glasses... I did move the forum to the dark theme, it helps...
Surgery for the 1st eye still over 3 weeks away, 2nd eye will be 6 days later and that's the one I use to type this.
My monitor is a 40 inch TV with 150% zoom view. My IDE text is 20-point chars and all dark theme. Left eye closed to see well enough and still a LOT of error-correcting posts and sketches down to almost none.
Yes I look forward to clear sight first time ever for me. I was born with nuclear cataracts and got by almost 50 years by squint. Relaxed eyesight 20-60, better than fully blind!
I have things to build and components in tote bins plus temperature-controlled Stihl soldering station. Lots to do to not be bored! Computing and Arduino are big parts of my do-something late years life. Being able to see is a crucial part for sure.
Youre a valued member of the community @GoForSmoke. I hope it all goes well and youre happy with the results.
Look forward to your contributions well into the future. Good Luck!
Early morning up to clear sinuses, right eye gets done today.
6 days ago the darkness ended though the left pupil was still so dilated I was having "effects" that worried me till the doc said "dilated".
Left eye has astigmatism, 20-40 but this time correctable to 20-20.
In my life before from 16 or 17 I was 20-60 correctable to 20-40.
I'd bet the dollar that the right eye will be like the left.
As now the right eye view is a room full of dirty smoke and the left eye view is like being young again.
I can already view web pages with white background without washout. I have my screen brightness dialed back down too.
I was going blind and it definitely was closing my life in.
I've been through this too. Today I can see 70% with the eye that had its retina detached twice and 95% with the other eye that had cataract surgery 2 months ago. I know what you've been through. Thank God, ophthalmology is quite advanced.
The only advice I have for everyone is to not wait to go to the doctor. Everything is easier to solve in the beginning. With time, there are no miracles.
Those who have high myopia MUST see a retina specialist every year. It can detach without warning.
