Hello Sara,
Welcome to the forum.

Please read 'how to use this forum - please read' then go back and modify your question with a meaningful title and the various things suggested.

Don't assume that we all know which LED switch project you are talking about, there are lots of Arduino tutorials and you can't assume the people here are familiar with them. Please follow the instructions and post your code, a schematic and maybe a photo of what you have.

Thank you.

I wonder if the switch is one of these buttons:

If so (and you should still do as asked by PerryBebbington though) you should check the wiring to make sure you're actually switching the wires you connected. The only way to guarantee you're switching your wires without recourse to the diagram in the red box, is to connect across the diagonals.

But then, just a guess that you might have one of those pesky buttons (which also don't seem to "snap" nicely into breadboard holes) and you might have it wired wrong.

That is a fair question but as stated earlier without more information it cannot be answered directly. I would suggest getting the arduino cookbook, and reading that your project may be in it. It will also give you a background where this stuff comes from. A book on basic electronics would also be a great help, that will help you with the terms etc. Go on line there are an unbelievable amount of YouTube videos that will explain every part of what you are doing, remember some are better then others. This response is to help you get started in solving your problem, not solve it for you.
Good Luck & Have Fun!
