HC-05 v3.0 as master AT+LINK FAIL

Hi there,
I've spent ages with finding out how to operate HC-05 v3.0 as a master with no luck. I wonder if there is someone who could actually make that masterpiece work. (I have only found tutorials for v2.0 on the web.)

So I have successfully paired (but not connected!) HC-05 with my PC with the help of AT+PAIR and AT+BIND commands. This means I can see in bluetooth settings the HC-05's dedicated incoming and outgoing COM ports, but I can't communicate through them.
When I check AT+STATE? it says INQUIRING. While AT+LINK command results a FAIL response. So no connection. Any thoughts?

I followed the instructions written by Presidenten on the link below, which were the most helpful so far. (Turns out the HC-05 has a hidden personality...)

Your post is unclear but I remind you that HC-05 cannot communicate while in AT mode. I assume you are trying to auto-connect with PC. I don't think the HC-05 has a personality that is actually hidden, but I understand that not all AT commands are accessible by using the button that is now common on the breakout boards, and you have to go back to old-school separate wires. Check out the Martyn Currey website, he is just as knowledgeable, and a lot more friendly, than Stackoverflow.

I have already checked Martin Currey's website, but unfortunately all his posts are about HC-05 with firmware 2.0. He also remarks that 3.0 modules work differently. And there's hardly any sources on the 3.0. I think I will just get a v2.0 somehow.

Probably a good idea. I have yet to hear of a good reason for getting a v3 and, if you know what you are getting beforehand, it is probably better not to.

Just a feedback if anyone would get in the same situation: Beware of the v3 garbage, v2 works like a charm.
