Header Pins or protoshield

Good day everyone, We as a beginner team in arduino have a problem, we bought a mega board for a screen to get access to more pins, turns out that the screen still uses 5vl and 3vl inputs which are needed to connect the buttons for control.

should we buy proto-shields or Header pins to access these inputs and connect the buttons?

(we do not know which pins does the screen use since we received it without specification ,is say only 3.5'' TFT LCD screen, not a touch screen)

Post a couple photos showing what you are writing about, please.

Buy something like Electronics-Salon Prototype Screw/Terminal Block Shield Board Kit For Arduino MEGA-2560 R3. Electronics-Salon D-269, Electronics-Salon MD-D269U-1.

This was just a pick from mega shield screw connector - Google Search; it has the long pins so you can fit it on the Mega. Screw terminals for more reliable connections.

Get a solderless breadboard and a bunch of DuPont cables. You'll need both male-female and male-male cables.

The prototype board in post #3 would be my choice. The second photo in post #4 clearly shows which Arduino pins are used and their signal names. Since you are using a Mega you should have plenty pins left for your application.

Thanks for your reply, We know that the screen only uses one of the two required pins but we do not know which and want just to access that one pin, should we buy the proto shield or multiple headers pins for all other pins to leave us the one pin wee need?

We do not have soldering equipments nor are we experts on that to be honest

The 40-pin header on the Mega has a couple of 5V and a couple of GND pins, if you can get to those underneath the display shield.

Which are the two required pins? What is the name of the one pin that you want to access?

3.3v or 5v , we are still not sure which one does the screen use, but one of them is supposed to be empty which we will use to connect the buttons

5V and GND are available on the 36 pin expansion connector at the end of the MEGA. Can you use that?

They are covered and unusable, but if wanted to use them, should we get header pins or proto shield?

You would be able to access them with right angle header pins.

The proto shield would be a good option but requires some soldering.

There's probably enough room to use something like this to use part of the expansion connector.
