Use one resistor per segment instead of one resistor on the common. The resistor limits current and having that current shared across all of the segments will cause segments to be dimmer as more are lit.
No, we can't tell you because we don't know the specs of the display and we don't know how your code will control the display.
If the display is common cathode and your code lights only one segment at a time, then it could be ok.
If your display is common anode or your display lights more than one segment at the same time, then it is not ok.
A good value for the eight resistors is 220Ω. Put them in series with each of the wires going to the seven LED segments and decimal point, like this:
