Hello, first let me say I am a newbie here. Apologies if I am not posting properly. Please be patient with me.
I am tinkering with some Arduino projects, and I have an older PC with Windows XP. While trying to upload code to my board, I get a "win32" exception error related to Java.
After searching forums and Googling, it looks like I should be using an older Arduino IDE.
So far, every link I find, routes me to the main Arduino download page that has the current 1.8.19.
I am looking for 1.6.x.
Do you know of an existing repository/link for 1.6.x. I have poked around on Github, and it is not clear where to find it.
There is the option to change your operating system to Linux. It should run on that machine and it is free. You can download an ISO image, put it on a DVD and boot your machine from that DVD. You can try it without changing anything. You can install it along side windows, it runs fine. The end result is you can run the latest IDE. If you have an old hard drive even the better.
It should not be necessary to go that far back. XP support was lost in Arduino IDE 1.8.10, so you can use 1.8.9. It is available from the link cattledog shared.
