How do you connect a 4 pin 16mhz crystal to a meta 2560?

Greetings fellas.

I'm working on an SMD oriented project in Eagle with an atmega2560 at it's heart. This here is the wiring diagram for the 16mhz crystal:

I've worked plenty with these DIP crystals to know how to wire them. Now for the SMD crystals I see that the most abundant options available to us are these 4 pin ones that run 2 grounds and 2 crystal pins.

The question is how do you wire this one up? Can you skip the ground connection and just use the 2 crystal pins?

Or do I still need to have these grounds conencted?

Thanks for the help!

Both will work, but recommend you use the second.

Ah, I see.

Thank you very much, sir.

Are you sure about the wiring ???

I found in this datasheet something different: https://datasheet.lcsc.com/szlcsc/1811072033_Yangxing-Tech-X322512MSB4SI_C9002.pdf

Thanks for help... I'm confused.
