How should i automate my home lights?

There are lots of information available on the internet , which type of sensors and parts should i use to automate my home..

Welcome to the forum

What is it that you want to automate ?

The easiest way would be to use a chronological timer. These can be purchased for a few dollars or programmed into an Arduino.

Which type of device you want to control like is it a smart light or you want to control using arduino or just turn on or off by switch

With that kindly share home light which you have purchased

I always recommend that you start with one of the standard home automation protocols.

You an buy dimmer switches and outlets work locally or remotely and fit into your existing switch/outlet boxes.

You might want to build your own controller or your own special device (1) but it would be difficult and expensive to build a dimmer or switch like what you can buy. And with a standard protocol you can easily expand your setup.

The big companies are standardizing on Zigbee but with the right hub other protocols should be compatible. I went with Z-Wave because there was more "stuff" available when I set it up. And my home automation hub is compatible with both.

(1) I bult a little "sunrise dimmer" and "wake-up system" but it plugs into a "smart" outlet so the thing I built doesn't need it's own clock. I bought everything else. I have a Z-Wave system with about 10 controlled lights/outlets and a Hubatat controller. The controller runs stand-alone to turn lights on/off and sunset/sunrise and to wake me up on weekdays, or I can access it over Wi-Fi for manual remote control. (My system isn't accessible over the Internet and I don't have voice control, but those things could be added.)

Follow this guy, but start with his early projects. The recent ones are complex.
