How to make code for robot like R-Hex

Hi

i'm working on robot like rhex
but i couldn't make the code work in the way i need
the way that make each 3 motors work together in triangle connection
like this video

How many motors could you make work already?

I could be wrong, but that looks like 6 motors to me.
And optical encoders.
