How to optoisolate a relay with one ground pin

I have this relay:

|218x500

It has one ground pin, 2 Vcc and one JD-Vcc that is connected by a jumper to one of the two Vcc pins.

If I connect Vcc to 5V Arduino pin and JD-Vcc to a separate power supply will the relay be isolated? Where do I run the ground pin to? The Arduino or somewhere else?

You need to watch my YouTube video #18 which describes all this relay stuff in some detail (enough for an Arduino project). If you like the video you can watch others, all aimed at the Arduino 'noob', or Arduinite as I call us!

The URL is in the footer of this post. Subscribe to the channel too if you think it good enough :)

Hi, The How-to for this type relay is on the ArduinoInfo.Info site HERE:

You do NOT connect the relay board to Arduino ground...
