How to use the MKR Motor Controller with sensors

Hello Arduino Community,

I own a WIFI 1100, a MKR Motor Controller (Arduino MKR Motor Carrier — Arduino Official Store) and the Arduino MKR IoT Carrier.
Only after buying them did I realize that I cannot use them at the same time!
I need the Motor Carrier to work, so now I'm wondering how I can connect additional input and output like sensors and buttons and a display to the stack of the Arduino and the Motor Controller. If possible, I'd like to avoid soldering and use the Grove 4pin connectors. (But if there is no other way I can also solder something)
Any help would be highly appreciated!
