I cannot find the Arduino Mega or Mega 2560 board in Arduino IDE

I cannot find the Arduino Mega or Mega 2560 board in Arduino IDE. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the IDE, as well as installing the Arduino AVR Boards core. I was able to locate this board previously, but it has gone missing since then.

Please confirm which version of the IDE you are using. If you are using version 2.x then the AVR board files are installed automatically the first time that you open the IDE

The Mega should be available to select using Tools/Board from the menu

Did you use the boards manager for that? Or some other mechanism?

My IDE interface looks different from yours. When I navigate to Tools → Board → Board Manager, the window I get does not match what you showed.
