I lost everything in the earthquake in turkey, what do I need to start again?

Hi from turkey
Unfortunately I lost all my electronics stuff from the earthquake, I had a big electronics collections I got from my dad, he was electronic technical, lots of resistors, caps, relays, oscilloscopes, micro-controllers, extra..

Now every-time I want to make simple project I need to order it online and wait for the shipping...

So I will start again, I didn't find a complete kits to order, and when I found one, it's over priced.

100% of my projects doesn't exceed 12v, mostly with arduino, and I started to make my own circuits for attiny, simple radio extra..

My question is: what kind of resistors, caps and transestors do I need to any project?
Just the basic to start again

Sorry for my bad English :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

NOTE: Thank you all for your kind offers to send me stuff but I have to decline because of our import restrictions and taxes. Please continue to offer suggestions but sadly I cannot accept offers of kit, even if completely free of charge

Can you mail order from the online malls like Ali?

Unfortunately, there is a huge tax from ordering from aliexpress, like if something around $5 the tax will be $15, I tried once and the package is still stuck at the taxation office, didn't receive it yet from like 5 months

In that case, I would just order only what you need for each project. If that happened to me, I would contact my political representative and ask why the import taxes should be so high, for things that aren't manufactured locally.

That's what I'm doing right now  I'm making earthquake detector, and stuck for some resistors, it's frustrating..

Buy a starter kit of your choice and add electronic components according to the project requirements to this kit.

If you're asking me to send you resistors, I'd love to, but I think it would get caught in the same net.

Okay, thanks I will look again

Nooo lol, I'm asking what kind of resistors usually I need like in what range for projects around 12v

There isn't any "typical" value. All circuits are different.

I just asked chatgbt and gave me this answer:

Sure, here's a suggested range of resistor values you might consider having on hand for your Arduino projects:

10 Ohm to 1 kOhm: These are commonly used for limiting current in LEDs, for example.

10 kOhm to 100 kOhm: These are commonly used as pull-up or pull-down resistors for digital inputs, as well as for voltage dividers.

Potentiometers: A range of 10 kOhm to 100 kOhm would be useful for most projects that require adjustable resistance.

It's also a good idea to have a few higher-value resistors (1 MOhm to 10 MOhm) on hand for projects that require a large resistance value.

and for caps he gave me this answer:

Sure, here's a suggested range of capacitance values you might consider having on hand for your Arduino projects:

Electrolytic capacitors: A range of 10uF to 1000uF would be useful for most projects that require larger capacitance values.

Ceramic capacitors: A range of 0.1uF to 10uF would be useful for most projects that require smaller capacitance values for decoupling and bypassing.

Tantalum capacitors: A range of 10uF to 100uF would be useful for high-frequency filtering and decoupling applications.

Film capacitors: A range of 0.1uF to 10uF would be useful for high-stability filtering and decoupling applications.

It's also a good idea to have a few larger capacitance values on hand for projects that require a large capacitance value.

Thanks everyone

Well, chatGPT has let you down if you need any resistor between 1k and 10k. I assure you that you will soon need one.

My policy has always been to order what I need plus extra for stock, I have a good collection as a result.

I'd be willing to send some stuff if I thought it would get through your customs and get to you. Do you have any thoughts on that?

I got closer

That's a good strategy,
Thanks dude, but our tax office will not accept that, impossible to pass.

But that's really kind of you
I can send you things from turkey if you want

Last year, I was thinking to live a little in Turkey and studied the issue - I was told that the tax on electronics from Aliexpress is about 30%, not 300%...

Maybe you should ask again? 30% off $5 is only 1.5 bucks...

The problem is they are not gonna pass, and if they pass, it depends on the tax guy, maybe he will put 15$ maybe 150$, there is no rule, it's up to that guy, here is an example for things I ordered from alibaba, it was a kit of resistors and caps, stuck in Istanbul Airport for a month, I'm 100% sure, I will not have them.

Second thing, you have a limit per year, if it passed $100 they will ask you to hire a tax attorney, that's cost alot, also you have to provide a company tax number, a person can not exceed $100

Also no company ship direct to south turkey, you should hire a second shipping company to take it from Istanbul/ankara to your place...
It's soooo complicated

You can sneak very flat items into a letter. Don't ask me how I know. So a small resistor assortment could pass. But the caps would be too thick.
