Yamaha PSS F30. Its my small Cousins keyboard
So i remember you mentioned a shift register. What would this do for the keyboard, And which set of ribbons would i put it on?
Ohk ill ask around and look at buying one
It is likely that they will need different software to drive them.
You can try the code your friend has just in case they are the same, but be prepared to be disappointed. Even the same manufacturer changed the way their keyboard scans worked. The main factor driving this was that they didn't want to be sued for copying an other manufacturer's circuit.
I don't know. What I do know is that the code you wanted to use mentioned things you didn't have in your circuit so I know it wasn't compatible with the circuit you had.
Are you talking about the IDE?
No I am talking about the code you have to add to my code in order to read what keys have been pressed and with what velocity.
I have done a lot of web searching (over an hour) on this product and I think it is not suitable for your project.

I can find nothing on hacking this keyboard. There is some information about hacking the very early Yamaha PSS 30 but this is a very different circuit.

I can find no schematics nor a service manual for your keyboard.

Reading the reviews I find this keyboard is not touch sensitive. That means there is no way to tell how hard the keys are hit, so you can't get any velocity information from the keys even if you were to hack them. This was a big feature of your friends Casio keyboard and why it had two ribbon cables. Have you taken your keyboard apart? I suspect there are no ribbon cables to connect to.
So in conclusion I think the keyboard you have access to is not suitable for your requirements.
