I really have no clue

I am very new to Arduino or any other microcontroller thingy.
I am trying to install Marlin and ramps 1.4 on an Arduino mega to run on my Anet (CTC) A8 3D printer. But I really have no clue how to do it. I have watched a few U tube videos but am still none the wiser for having done so. Most of them, well all really, assume a level or prior knowledge I just don't have. I know that makes me sound stupid but I am not and have a Law degree but that is not exactly helpful with this kind of thing. Programming and code is a complete mystery to me. So, I guess what I need is some advice on where to look to find the information in a simple enough format that I stand some chance of comprehending it and get that Anet A8 running again. I do have another FDM 3d printer that I have yet to kill and I do not intend to mess with its code 'cos it works. Any advice on how to upload Marlin etc. on my Mega with the Polou ramps 1.4 will be welcome.

I would have thought some one with a degree of any sorts would have read the description of the section you were posting in. What made you thing this was a boot loader question?

I have moved it here where you will get a better chance of an answer. Note this new section mentions specifically CNC which is what your problem is all about.

Please read

And post the information we require in order to help you. Like links to what you are trying to install, I know what Ramps is but in this context I don't know what merlin is.

This is an example I found

Don't watch videos, they are mostly useless, always go for text that you can read at your own pace.

Start of with the simple stuff before you even think about something as complex as you want to do. I am sure your first law experience was simple and not something complex.

Basically, you need to install the Arduino IDE, download the Marlin source code, edit the configuration file to set it up for your printer and upload it to the Mega. Details here.

Hmm you have a point, but since I'm 65 with less than perfect vision i missed that bit so I was unsure where to post it and I thought anywhere would get a response. Which it did. Wildbill's comment helped greatly and I have successfully installed the firmware so now I have to reassemble the machine with the arduino main board and see what happens.
