I want to be sure before going to the next step.....

I want to be sure this board will "work" before going to the next stage of project building.

I have a few SMALL projects on which I am working.

If this IS arduino compatible for programming, pin I/O (digital/analogue I/O etc) I will be very happy.

(And when/if I get one, what is it called in the board drop down menu? I've never looked before as I have never changed it.)

Nano 3.0 Controller Board Compatible With Nano Ch340 USB Driver Hot for sale online | eBay

It is, so be happy, let joy be unconstrained.

What do you mean "If/when"?

In previous versions I always used Arduino Duemilanove w/Atmega328
and still do with 1.0.x, even though there's a Arduino Nano w/ Atmega328 choice.
They're supposed to be Duemilanoves only in a smaller form-factor

Not sure where to get the CH340 driver.

Hmmm...

Two replies. One says yes and the other is concerned with the drivers required.

I dont understand the specifics of the CH340 but a search implies it is the chip used on the board to "decode" the USB signals.

I can see the drivers listed on the web, so I am confused about the concern.

Thanks.

Hi, I have this and I am running win 7. Windows update automatically found the drivers without my intervention. In the Arduino program, the board to select is Arduino Nano w/ ATMega328.

Windows 7 finds the driver good, getting the driver from China not sure if I would.

I want to be sure this board will "work"

That's a problem with the cheap eBay variations: being "sure" is pretty tough. Frequently you have some design that has "propagated" through several layers of designer/manufacturer, and a vendor that is clueless about arduino (or ANY electronics) (and is also selling toys, clothing, etc.) You have to buy them and try them out, and hope that your source doesn't change the board they provide sometime mid-way through the number of boards you were planning to buy from them.

I've heard that the ch340 USB chip used in this version does not have a MacOS driver, for example. (but spycatcher's file include one, so perhaps that it obsolete info.) (Frustration with Nano (v.3.0) USB Serial Connections - IDE 1.x - Arduino Forum )

Received my order of five yesterday (just after midnight now).

The mystery logo blurred on the eBay listing is "BAITE".

Tested one with my "frequency doubler" sketch - works just fine.

Fedora recognises it with no hesitation as ttyUSB0. Will try one or two Windoze (7, XP) tomorrow. Or rather, later today after sleep.

Incidentally, if you want ten of them.

And indeed, whilst neither WIn Xp or Win 7 automatically found the drivers, those from the (rather strangely behaving) website, loaded with great speed and no fuss and have so far caused no concerns at all.
