2.3.7... FIRST!

PARAPHRASING... while running IDE 2.3.6, a notice for "Download/Install 2.3.7?" appeared. I clicked yes. The install shield noticed that I had 2.3.6 open (heh?) and asked if I want to close 2.3.6 to install 2.3.7. I clicked yes. Then, 2.3.6 shut down and 2.3.7 started installing, but now 2.3.7 thinks I have 2.3.6 open. I do not, and 2.3.7 said "it" would close 2.3.6 for me. "Retry" fails, always. Gaslighting me with a little Muenchhausen by proxy, are we?

Device manager has no Arduino entries.

[... time passes...]

Tried again... Started IDE... "Software Update"... clicked "Close and Install"... (install shield closes 2.3.6)... Install shield says "IDE cannot be closed"... click "Cancel"... Install Shield says "Failed to Uninstall old app files."

[... more time passes ...]

I just did it and it went swimmingly. No problems for me. Was I lucky?

Only problem that I encountered was that file associations still pointed to 2.3.6.
Not sure why.
