IDE not opening correctly

All, there was some kind of auto-update required when I opened IDE just now, saying it needed to restart IDE to do so.

Now it is done, I have a corrupted interface, as I no longer see the top bar where you can access flies, tools etc. Additionally I am unable to drag the screen, or 'restore down'. I cant open a new sketch or access the board selection options

I have restarted it but it's not wanting to play, is there some cure?

I'm not sure how to post a screen shot

Shaun

The issue sounds familiar and is specific to IDE 2.x. But you posted in the IDE 1.x category (and not in the IDE 2.x category) so that can't be it

I case you are using IDE 2.x, you can move it (open the topic, click the big pencil next to the topic title and change the category (type ide to filter)) or you can let us know and it will be moved for you.

Is this what you got?

If so, see A setting has changed; I haven't experienced this for ages.

I think I successfully moved it!

And as for the notification, that does look like what I got but I tend to treat my memory as a guide that any certainty!

Also, I notice that IDE is now stuck on installing Adafruit SSD1306:2.5.13

Great :+1:

Which exact version of the IDE? IDE 2.3.4?
I would just let it hang in there for a bit. If it does not disappear, close the IDE and open it again. It might be that the notification is stuck; it might also be that there is an issue with access to the library.

If you don't come right, the log might reveal something. For windows, you can follow those instructions: Hanging on startup - #5 by ptillisch and post the results here.

Hi all, I restarted the PC, everything came goon on the reboot

Thanks for the help!
