It's not about "conventional" or "modern". By definition, current flows from Positive to Negative. The fact that the majority carries in a piece of wire happen to be electrons is not relevant.

from the look of it, I would say it's like this for each of the 4 breadboards plus the "power rail" (probably meant for that) that is at the top.
