iPad problems with this Web Site

• For the last 2 months or more this Web Site has become quite unusable.

• Sometimes Images that were immediately displayed in the past, now take 5 seconds or more to be displayed.
  There are often times when a coloured box placeholder is displayed, you need to tap on it to get the image (which then takes 5 seconds or more to download).

• When making a post and you try to add a emoticon no icons are offered in the pull down menu, when you finally get them displayed and tap on one, the screen flashes and you are taken back to the edit window without that icon being inserted. The next time you try, the icon is then added.

• When you try to post a reply to a thread, your post can take up to 10 seconds to be displayed; sometimes it is shown with ghost colouring and another 10 seconds goes by before things are properly shown.
  This also happens when you correct something in an existing past post.

• These symptoms are seen with both Safari and Chrome browsers. Also, a 2nd iPad does exactly the same.

• With these things continuing to happen, this will very soon exhaust my desire to contribute any more, I guess no loss.

• Sometimes when you try to edit an old post, the edit window takes 15 more seconds to open.

I can confirm that there are little issues, however not as bad as you describe. I'm using Firefox on Win11.

Not observed. The only thing I have noticed is that when you want to mention someone (e.g. @la) it takes a little longer than in the past (total maybe two seconds) before the list shows.

This also happens when you correct something in an existing past post.

I did not observe this to the extend that you mention (10 seconds). The ghosting is normal to my knowledge but one will usually not notice it because the delay between clicking the reply button and the post showing is short.

I'm using Firefox on Win11.

I am using Chrome on Win11 and don't see the problems either but note that the topic title refers to problems using an iPad

I was aware of that It was more to indicate that I'm using something different from an iPad.

Have not seen any of the issues mentioned using Safari on my iPad Air (13”, iPad OS 18.1.1 currently).

Are you running the latest iPad OS 18.2.1? If so, how much of the “Apple Intelligence” do you have enabled?

Do you have similar problems if you use a browser on a PC ?

• No

• Quite sure it’s not a WIFI problem, 70 Mbps.
  Other Apps on the iPad run smoothly as they always have.
  YouTube is responsive with no lagging.

• Cookies have been deleted so many times wife wonders why there aren’t any in the jar

• Telco has run all tests on their equipment several times, all okay.

• Often get images like this.

That is the same as I was running yesterday. Had my iPad update to the latest version after I posted and went to sleep. Your version has the Apple Intelligence functionality available and totally enabled by default. In settings, this feature is listed as a top-level menu item just below the general settings. Curious if this feature is having issues with this forum or if processing the forum with the “Intelligence” functionality is causing your issues. Could try disabling Apple Intelligence and then seeing if your issues remain. I think it became enabled about 2 months ago and I have disabled it twice now (update 18.2.1 reenabled it).
