Iphone problems

As well has having the the Edit screen issue mentioned elsewhere , when using my iphone I am not allowed to create any posts of any catagory. This is a new one today, which now seems to have fixed itself since logging on with my PC !

If I reply to a post (or now maybe create one ) I have the "edit screen issue"

I've tried switching it off and on.....

If i use my PC no issues !

any ideas ?

What IOS version are you using? I’m on 18.4.1 and I don’t have any issues.

In order to make the information easily accessible to any interested parties, I'll share a link to the topic @hammy is referring to here:

Please provide a detailed description of what happened when you tried to create a post.

When you say "create a post", do you mean replying to an existing topic, or creating a new topic? If it was an existing topic, can you provide a link to the topic (you might be able to find it in your browser history if you don't remember)?

Do you mean that the problem no longer occurs if you try performing the same action now using your phone as you did before when you encountered the "not allowed to create any posts" problem? Or do you only mean that you don't encounter the "not allowed to create any posts" problem when using your PC, but it still occurs when using the phone?

Ok IOs 18.41

I can create posts on my PC.

I couldn’t create posts on my phone , but after logging on the PC I could create posts on my phone .

Now my PC is off , I can no longer create new posts on my phone .

“ the edit” issue also remains

Thanks for the clarification.

Please provide the information I requested in my previous reply:

Please use the previous topic for any discussion of the "edit issue". Let's dedicate this topic exclusively to the "not allowed to create any posts" problem.

Creating new topics ( anywhere)I get

I can reply to topics, such as this one

It is expected that you will encounter this error when you have selected the Projects category, as you did when you took that screenshot:

The Projects category is configured as read-only because it solely intended to serve as a container for more specific subcategories.

Please select "General Guidance" (I chose this Projects > General Guidance category arbitrarily as one that is not configured to be read-only) from the subcategory menu:

and then see if the "New Topic" button is then enabled as expected.

Hmmm might have been stupid here , I think my picture wasn’t a good exampl which I just quickly picked to show the error msg but it’s all working ok now .
So apologies if my brains out of order today and that was the issue, but I’m fairly sure I had tried “ sub “ categories , which is how we got here ( had to use PC to create this post ) .

Thx for the help anyways!

No worries. I'm glad it is working now. Please let us know if the problem comes back when trying to create a topic in a category which is configured to allow that.

Note that there are a few subcategories which are also configured as read-only (for example, Other Hardware > Product Design). These are mostly categories which are slated to eventually be merged away per Restructuring forum categories - #42 by sterretje. Although we got most of the work done around the turn of the year, it is a huge amount of work (since it requires manually recategorizing thousands of topics) and I ran out of time before getting through it all. The categories are configured read-only in order to prevent the job from growing even larger through the gradual accumulation of even more topics.

:+1: thx
