IRF5305S & ESP8266 12-E NodeMCU

Hi,
I did try to connect an IRF5305S shield to the output of the ESP8266 12E which is 3.3V.
The shield is like this one:

As a load, I have an heating cartridge: when the PIN output is set to HIGH, the LED1 is on, but I don't have my 12V output power supply...
Has anyone ever encountered this problem?
Samuel

What was the "+5 to 36 V" connected to?

There's an indicator LED and the Opto's IRED (LED) - combined they're 3V or so.
I estimate the current, with R1 = 1k, 300µA or so ( (3.3V - 3V) / 1kΩ ) -probably insufficient

Thanks for the investigation runaway_pancake, the typical If is @ 5mA within the EL817 datasheet.
With a 470 ohms resistor, it works much more better
