Is it possible to use multiple L298n drivers on an Arduino Mega Rev3 to program 6 X 12V DC motors (400mAh). I want them to be controlled separately an

Please read title. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi, @ewanm2314

It is possible, but why L298n, they are old and inefficient motor drivers.

You could do better with MOSFET based drivers.

Thanks.. Tom.. :grinning: :+1: :coffee: :australia:

What do you mean "separately an"? What is "an"?

Hi Tom,

Thank you for the confirmation. I think I will still use the l298n just based on the amount of resources and information online regarding it. May I ask if each l298n needs a power supply or if it can share?

Hi,
They can share one power supply to provide power for the motors.

400mAh, sorry do you mean 400mA?
Is that the total load of all 6 motors, or just one motor?

Thanks.. Tom.. :grinning: :+1: :coffee: :australia:

400mA for each motor. ( Thank you for the correction). Thank you very much for your time.

Can your 12V PS supply 10 ~ 12 Amps to start all 6 motors at the same time?

L298n

Why are you using obsolete parts? On a good day you will wind up with about 9 volts on the motor leads, the L298 will drop 3 volts. That amounts to about 7.2 watts of power used just to heat the surrounding area. That amounts to about 1/4 of your motor power not being available.
