Issue installing drivers.

When I try to install drivers with device manager it finds the arduino driver, but says "access denied". I've attached a screencap of the error message.

Which version of Windows?

Windows 7 64-bit.

I have Win7Pro, 64-bit, my driver looks like this. Not sure where your message is coming from.

I've had the same problems with the Arduino driver. The Arduino driver is crap, just use VCP Drivers - FTDI instead.

The IDE ships with a set of FTDI drivers, can hardly say it is crap.

Nothing has worked so far. I've reinstalled the arduino software multiple times. This is what the arduino shows up as in my device manager.

Well the OP's first posting shows an error window saying Arduino Uno, and all that have responded are talking about FTDI drivers. If he does have a Uno then FTDI drivers will not get him going.

So first thing is to get some facts like:
Board type
IDE version being used

Well I've never run windows 7, but I think that the latest IDE release 1.0.5r2 has new updated Uno drivers that are signed properly where I think the IDE 1.0.5 version had something wrong with the 'signed version'?
From the release notes:

ARDUINO 1.0.5-r2 - 2014.01.08

  • Signed drivers for Windows 8.1
  • Fixed Windows drivers signature (that prevented installation on
    some Windows 8.x OS). Now the signature is timestamped and should
    not expire.

Might be worth a try.

That's just a fix for windows 8. And already tried it.

Hi, i recently bought an Arduino ADK and cant get it to work. My computer wont recognize my board. When i go to device manager and then ports(COM & LPT) it says Unknown device (my board is pluged in). What should i do?

Also, I forgot to add, i went to the site:http://arduino.cc/en/Main/ArduinoBoardMegaADK?from=Main.ArduinoBoardADK
Down at the bottom, it says 'drivers and setups' i downloaded the arduino_ADK.zip but when i tried to install it i get "windows encountered a problem installing the driver software for your device".
I am using arduino IDE 1.0.5, my OS is Windows 7 32 bit
