Im just baffled, I'm working in with L298N and arduino this picture is my reference, the thing is if the the ground of the arduino is connected to the ground of the L298N, the L298N is not working properly(btw im using different power supply for arduino and L298N), But if i disconnect the ground the L298N works just fine
How is power connected to the Arduino? How much power? Show a picture. Perhaps the external power supply ground is very noisy, making ground fluctuate.
the arduino is powered by USB which connected to my PC, the L298N is powered by 12V 2A DC adaptor
It sounds like you have it wired correctly, but I think the condition of the wiring is the problem. I think your moving wires causes the good/bad to happen, not the fact that you are removing the required common ground. Verify all jumper wire connections are good. Upload a picture of your project.

Hi, @berto55
Welcome to the forum.
Can you post some images of your project?
So we can see your component layout.
Can you please post a copy of your circuit, a picture of a hand drawn circuit in jpg, png?
Hand drawn and photographed is perfectly acceptable.
Please include ALL hardware, power supplies, component names and pin labels.
Rather than a Fritzy image.
Thanks.. Tom...
