I have some troubles to found the relevant information how to realize a wlan adaptor. I have attached a systemoverview. In the past I have use a drive for servomotors and was connected over lan. Therefor I have to tip in the IP-Adress of the drive in any browser to set parameter of the drive.
What I would like to do is, I will develop a adapter for the this drive that they can communicate over Wlan. I would like to plug in a lan cable and connect that with an arduino. The connection should be the same over browser. That means I would like to tip in the PC the IP Adresse and the PC will communicate over Wlan to the Arduino and the Arduino has the connection over Lan to the drive. I hope you can understand what I would like to do
Now my question is what kind of item I should use for this functionality and with the smallest consumption of space? Do you have any recommandations oder similar project experience? I have seen that en ESP8266 could be an option for the WLAN but there is no plug for the RJ45 Lan cable. Is there a better option which combined everything?
You talk about wlan but then talk about plugging in a lan cable...
So at the moment the only thing I can recommend is Wemos Mini. 'cause I think they are really good. But I am completely uncertain what you need, or why.
What is that thing on the left side of your diagram?
Ok thanks. The thing on the left side is a drive for servo motors. This drive has a Lan interface. I would like to create a Wlan module that I dont have to connect the PC over Lan with the drive. Therfore I would connect the Wlan module to the Lan interface of the drive. The qestion is what kind of items that I have to use to create this Wlan module. Is the idea more clear`?
It is a replacement of the lan connection to the PC with a handmade Wlan adapter which will be pluged in to the drive over the lan interface.
Ok Richi, I think I understand now. It may be possible to build such a device with an Arduino, but that would be a very difficult way to do it. It would be better, cheaper and simpler to buy an inexpensive WiFi bridge/extender/repeater.
