Hey, I just recently got an Arduino and have been following the Elegoo tutorial for it. I have been doing good with each tutorial up until the "Hello World" tutorial, where I have been having trouble. I am unable to get the LCD to display any characters. I have been following this schematic and this is what my setup looks like. Originally, it displayed white boxes, but now it won't display anything. I have also attached the code I am using. Anything is helpful!
Check your contrast pot. It looks like it needs to be adjusted.
And make sure it properly fits in the breadboard. Can be a bad contact.
Adjust your contrast POT. Also check the continuities of the jumper wires.
Please post code within code tags, do not post screenshots of code or error messages
I have taken every wire out and changed it with new wires, I have also turned the contrast up and this is what it displays now. A few question marks and random symbols. It displayed "hel" for a short time but I can't get it back.
Is the LCD header securely soldered? Does the solder cover the pins or is it just next to them?
I believe they do. I just bought the kit off of amazon, so I did not have to solder anything. But to my best judgement, they look correctly soldered.
Good - that is a common problem causing intermittent connections.
Yeah eh, on your picture the databus wires don't seem to be connected to the UNO (or at least not to the correct pins) I See the connection to pin 12 & 11 (with 2 greens) but the white wires with the blue and the green. are they connected correctly ?
