Hi I came across this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2vAoOYF3m8U) about a 3d printed linear actuator, and would like to replicate it. However, I am clueless about the wiring for this for the servo and arduino uno board and adafruit motor shield etc. Can someone help me out regarding these? Thanks.
I also saw this setup below which looks like a possible end product except that the sensor looks different
They put a cog (pinion) on a 180 degree servo shaft to drive a rack (the flat, linear part). You can find the wiring for driving a servo with an Arduino in a search for "arduino servo".
The first thing I saw in the video is that you need an Adafruit motor shield for a servo.
That's not correct.
That motor shield is just there to pass the servo connector directly to the pins of the Uno.
The servo is now powered from USB (bad), or from V-in (worse).
Remove the shield, and use a servo example with external servo power.
Leo..
