Logging Neighbor's Dog Barking

I am having an issue with our neighbor's dog barking and would like to set up a device to log the date and time of each bark. My goal is to upload this data to a web server to create a report or chart detailing the frequency and duration of the barking. I am considering detecting sounds above a specified decibel level instead of specifically identifying dog barks. Is this project feasible? Do you have any other suggestions on how to approach it?

I did exactly this about a decade ago…
To save time, I bought a cheap VOX module (about $10), connected it to a digital input, logged with time to an SD card as a CSV file.

I logged over about ten days to give a fair sample size.
Graphed it in excel…

Surprisingly, the stupid neighbour left for work in the morning, and returned home in the evening, while I had enjoyed 3000-4000 barks per day ! The number even shocked me !

The council sorted that out pretty quickly.

I could do the same, logging mopeds racing up and down the street 3 floors down....

Anything off-the-shelf stuffed in a sausage. Zero barks.

As a joke it's okey. As a matter of fact a/some person/persons has/have prepaired dog attractive things prepared with evil and spread in parks, and the result is abominable....

Being allergic against cats I used water spray on a curious neighbours cat that wanted to come inside. Nothing worse. It helped out.

Commercial, off-the-shelf, products made and marketed for animals are not evil. Ask any veterinarian.

You missed it totally. Home made buns, meat balls...., containing pieces of broken glas, nails,..... It has been an on going story in a certain town.
Never heard about friendly, anti dog things.

Help the dog's owner solve the problem for you, in a few weeks. Generate a high frequency, maybe in the 24Khz range (think dog whistle). Set it to chirp a few seconds about every 8 minutes or so and turn it on when you go out shopping. It would be better if the timing is random. You can also do it at 3 in the morning for just a few chirps. Do not be consistent on the timing or the neighbor will figure it out.

I did.

The "calming" treats are pro-dog. Not harmful, takes the stress from the dogs life. Dogs do not bark all day because they are happy.

Using drugs, cocain or what? As I said, never heard about such things before.

Can you give me more information about the hardware please? What is a vox module? I tried a normal sound detector module but was surprised it wasn't sensitive enough (even at the max setting) to be triggered by the barks. I need to do this badly since my neighbours' dog has been driving everyone insane over the past few years. Would love to present some hard evidence to the council.

I think you need a sound activated 'digital voice recorder' ( something like this )

VOX = voice operated switch

I used a simple hobby kit that i placed on the fence post, and it worked a treat.
