I need to mount a AP1084 regulator inside a 9mm aluminum tube. The part fits, but since the tube needs to act as a heat sink, I need some sort of thermal adhesive to bridge the gap between the flat back of the regulator and the concave inner surface of the tube. Since the back/tab of the part is also the output, it needs to stay electrically isolated from the tube, which is grounded. So what I'm looking for is something that is thermally conductive, electrically non-conductive, and will hold the chip in place.
The only thing I could find is Arctic Silver ceramic adhesive, but it's really expensive for a tiny tube that I'd end up using all of to fill the gap. Does anybody have any reasonably-priced suggestions?
be sure to read the spec sheet to make since out of what product you want, and the crappy chart at the bottom to check price and availability of the different products
I have never seen these people before, but they have an interesting product at a decent price? along with a confusing way of saying it :-?
Thanks for the link. That OB200 stuff looks like exactly what I need. It's just a shame that the smallest package they sell it in is 2oz, and their weird packaging means you have to mix it all at once. I wonder if it's possible to separate out the two components and store them in different containers for later use.
Of course they're out of stock right now, but I bookmarked the page. I'm open to any other suggestions as well. I was looking at some epoxy putty sticks that contain metal, but claim to be non electrically conductive. I don't suppose there's much chance these just happen to be good thermal conductors?
