Mac OS and how to access serial ports

How to get a consistent access to working Srial USB ports when using Arduino with a Mac

Your question is clear as mud…. My USB devices work fine in my macs.

Can you elaborate?

hallo hartleycom - I am using a Mac Air (OSX 12.6 and CH340 driver) with USB C ports and Arduino IDE 2.01 and ESP32 WROOM DA. I am also experiencing an intermittant connectivity issue. Sometimes I can get board info and other times not. Sometimes I am able to start the sketch download and then it fails with "esptool: .... unhandled exception". I have tested the ESP32 and cable on an UBUNTU system with no issues although it was with Arduino1.8. Good luck

I am now trying to use a :-
Mac mini Chip M1 Memory 8GB Mac OS 13.01.1
Process
Switch on Mac mini
Load Audio Ap Ver 1.8.19
Plug in Mega 2560 or Uno
No identifiable serial port apart from
/dev//cu.wlan-debug
/dev/cu.Bluetooth-incoming-Port
Does that help the merky waters I am in. Seems to work better with my Mac Book Pro but this was a similar issue in the early days. The Mini is to be device for the Train Set Product using JMRI which again is fine on the Mac Book Pro
Look forward to your reply

Real ones ? Or ch340 based clones ?
