Making LED pulse softer at the fade-out

Hello!

I've made a LED pulse circuit with a NE555 timer that works well, but I've noticed and started to bother me that the led fade is nice and soft at the beginning, but is cut off at the end without a proper fade.

Any idea how I can adjust this?

My components are:
4x AA 1.5v batteries
3 20ma leds with 120ohm resistors
1k resistor
1k uf resistor
Ne555 timer
2n2222 transistor

It will also walk you through embedding the pictures. There's a lot of people here that love to help, but you have to do your part and post accordingly.

For instance, the link I pasted above requires the user to copy and paste it rather than clicking on it. Those on mobile devices aren't going to be able to do this easily. Same with pictures...and code.
