I'm developing a project that will use both a 10k pot for volume and a rotary encoder for parameters. I can't find any matching parts in height so I can mount the PCB in a case properly. Does anyone have suggestions?
If it's possible I don't want to use separate panel mount components since those parts along with their nuts will help securing the PCB to the case (if they had the same height... :S).
I'm not sure I understand what you're asking but are you describing an arrangement with concentric shafts like on a guitar amp? You could disassemble a part like this and add the encoder to the center shaft. Might be kind of a cool UI regardless.
Are you looking to mount the pot and encoder on the PCB, and have them extend through holes in a chassis, hoping for identical heights to tighten the nuts down level? If so, my first thought would be to abandon that idea, mount them both on the chassis, and run a wiring harness back to connectors on the PCB.
