Hi, does anyone know if a micro-hydro generator that can output more than 500mA, exists? All I have found can barely do 200mA. Is it because of tech limitations? I have even contacted various suppliers just to be told that data shown on the product is wrong.
got a link to something you looked at ?

For example, I was told by the supplier that this product could produce more than 500mA, then told that it was wrong .
I would say a definite maybe. With the information you have given us I find: Microhydropower systems usually generate up to 100 kilowatts of electricity. Most of the hydropower systems used by homeowners and small business owners. Just thought you might like to know! More information and make and model numbers help. Your link shows a 1 watt unit. Using Mr. Ohm's law it can at 2 volts give you 500mA. You get to test it to be sure.
Given how cheap they are I suggest you buy one and see if it does what you want.

Is it reliable to use said law to check how much mA they should output?
Hi,
What voltage?
Micro is classed as I can see in the commercial world anything from 1kW to 10kW.
Smaller than that an I would envision the efficiency makes them commercially un-viable.
If you want to make one for diy experiment then

PS, Sorry, but what is the forum software stuffing up these days, the posts before mine were not there when I started to compose and that only took 10mins.
Buy two and connect them in parallel.

buy 4. Watching the BigClive video, it has a useful life of 3,000 hours.
I swear, that looks exactly like a DC water pump being run run to generate DC.

The DC motor used has a magnetic ring
The impeller has a round magnet.
The impeller spins the motor when used as a generator.
Power more power used, the greater the resistance.
if you power the motor, the impellor will spin. This is what is used on fish tanks to keep liquid separation from the electronical bits. DC motors can be used as generators.
but, watch the bigclive video, he opens the device and it appears to be a 3-phase connection that is rectified to a DC output. might not be a good candidate for a pump.

Can't see that anywhere
Thanks ....I can see that getting hacked as an onboard generator on a model aircraft.

Would need work on the bearing but....... mmmmmm
Aren't these things about as much use as the gadgets you get in Christmas Crackers?
