Would like suggestions for a microwave motion sensor that I can install/encase in a thin wooden box that will activate a MP3 or Wave recorded voice message. Would like an all-in-unit with sensor, voice recorder and speaker. Not Arduino driven, I don’t want to code.
Not sure why you posted here, since you don;t want to use an Arduino, or code there isn't much we can do.
I will tell you I used an RCWL0516 radar sensor, and it picked me up at least 15 ft away through the enclosed kitchen island and a Rubbermaid bin full of stuff. BUT that requires some MCU and code, albeit a trivial, easy amount.
To avoid the usually inevitable rounds of "no, I already looked at that one", perhaps you could help out by giving us a detailed list of the units that you have already looked at in your no doubt exhaustive research on the subject (which links to the technical data on each), and tell us the exact reasons why you rejected each of them.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation on the matter.

Which message player have you picked?
Some factors that may affect project::
- Target always likely human, not pets etc?
- Detection distance and area?
- Sensor choice must be microwave, not cheaper alternatives like PIR etc?
- Played message intended for target or user?
- Thin box holds player speaker?
- Unit weatherproof?
Consider the DFR MP3 Player. Much support here. For very simple use does not need Arduino, but curious why you’ve apparently ruled out the extra versatility it could offer?
I am working on an art project. See attached. I now have a PIR doorbell sensor which works and meets most of my needs. However, I want a unit that I could install inside the box, so it doesn't look so crude and bulky. I sometimes post non-Arduino topics on this site, because you guys are so smart and have tons of experience. Also, you give no-BS answers. Thanks for all the feedback.
