MKR NB 1500 -> ERROR, no modem answer

Hi, I recently bought a MKR NB 1500, and I'm having trouble getting it to work.
I connected it to my pc via USB, and I tried to upload both the "TestModem" and "NBScanNetwork" sketches. Both without good results.
From the serial monitor I get the following outputs:

-> Starting modem test...ERROR, no modem answer.
-> Checking IMEI...Error: Could not get IMEI

-> NB IoT/LTE Cat M1 networks scanner
-> Not connected

I tested the NB1500 on 3 different computers, with the same results, and both with and without additional 3.7V 1800mah battery.
I currently have a thingsmobile SIM inside the device, but I think the problem for now is just communicating with the modem.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance

Cut the power from the board. After 10 sec. repower. Try to upload SaraSerialPasstrough from the MKRNB examples.
Type ATI9 in the serial monitor. This should show up the firmware.
If it's under L0.0.00.00.05.12,A.02.19
Do a upgrade as described in:

The MKR modem is a sensitive diva. After some hard powerlosses sometime she becomes unresponsive..

I tried "SaraSerialPasstrough", but when I type ATI9 in the serial monitor I don't get any response, I don't see that ATI9 is also shown that I typed and sent.

Always after uploading "SaraSerialPasstrough", I launched the m-center program (seen elsewhere) and it returns "Not responding"

Hmmm... SARA...RIP. My heartfelt condolences ... Be honest, you knew it already...

Sometimes i had the same behaviour of the modem but after a while it answered.
It looks like you're not a beginner so i would try again and then try to return to sender...

My suspicion is that the modem has died or was DOA. I have two of the boards and one of them was working fine and it died with the same symptoms you have. Can't communicate with the modem. I soldered a USB cable to connect to the modem directly and the modem doesn't respond to any AT commands with it either. Think the comment by intstarep above "The MKR modem is a sensitive diva. After some hard powerlosses sometime she becomes unresponsive…", is the problem.

Exactly what I feared.. I make a few more attempts and then try for a return or replacement...
Thank you, thank you both
