I am trying to develop a fast-acting power system distance protection relay (see attached image of signal path) and was looking at the vidor 4000 as a possible candidate due to it featuring a fpga.
The relay would take a two ac voltage inputs (50Hz fundamental frequency) one from a stepdown transformer and one from a current transformer.
What is the current state of the dsp ip blocks for the vidor e.g. fft
Would this be an achievable project on this platform?
Hello,
if the only aim is to measure a phase difference between current and voltage for a 50Hz fundamental, there's no point in using an FFT, you just need to be interested in the 50Hz frequency.
And yes, it's perfectly feasible with the CYCLONE 10LP, but it may be like taking a hammer to kill a fly (french expression.. English may be " use a sledgehammer to crack a nut").
