MKR1310 No Lora on External Power

I am trying to power a MKR1310 using a battery to a 12VDC/5VDC buck converter to the MKR1310 VIN. When doing this, the unit does not connect to the Lora Gateway.

When powering via USB, the MKR1310 connects quickly. I can even remove the USB and it will keep sending data, just won't initially connect.

I saw a thread from a few months ago where the OP solved a similar issue by jumping the VIN and 5V pins. This did not help in my case. Any ideas?

EDIT: Nevermind, it was an amateur mistake that I should have caught a couple days ago. Shame upon me.

As a matter of interest what voltage are you supplying to the VIN pin ?

5VDC from the buck converter.
