Moving from SIM800 to SIM7020G Module, special SIM card? Or?

I thought I should transition from using 2G to 4G modules, before T-Mobile shuts off its 2G service here in the US.
But I have a few questions about the SIM7020G module after testing it with a normal T-Mobile sim card and it not registering on the network. I'm not finding many articles or videos on using the 7020G. Could the NB (narrow band) not operate with our common $3/Mon T-Mobile or Ultra plans? Comments/suggestions?

What minimum 3G/4G (non-NB) module is an alternative?
I'm now looking at higher priced SIM7600NA-H (CAT4) and SIM7600G-H module boards, but are physically much larger.

Hello,

What is your startup sequence for the simcom module? For module register, I use AT+CREG=1 first and then AT+COPS=0 for automatic carrier selection.

Actually I just installed the SIM card and powered it up with a 5V3A adapter (as with a SIM900 test module, registers in a couple seconds) and the fast LED rate never reverts to the ~ 3-second registered interval. I had no connection to a host to use AT commands. I'm researching now the requirements for this module, to see if it needs a battery (has battery terminals). I can find no instructions or examples of testing this exact module. I will connect it to test the AT commands.

I'm now connected to and communicating with the module.

AT+CREG=1 returned OK
AT+COPS=0 returned ERROR

AT+COPS? returns +COPS: 0
