MPU6050 connection failed error

I'm very new to Arduino, in fact just got mine today. I also ordered a mpu6050. I immediately hooked everything up and I got the connections right, so I ran the jrowberg/i2cdevlib example (i2cdevlib/Arduino/MPU6050 at master · jrowberg/i2cdevlib · GitHub) which should return the angle of the imu. However, when I run it, it says "MPU6050 connection failed". I did not solder the wires to the mpu6050, instead, I attached the wires through a breadboard. Could anyone help? I'm sorry if I didn't provide enough information, I'm pretty new to this. Thank you for your time!

Ive watched tutorials of people using breadboards and having success. Shouldn't the breadboard give it a solid connection?

Actually, no need, I tried holding the mpu down so it had a very firm connection with the contacts, and the connection came back succesful. You were totally right, looks like im going to have to solder the connections before i can test it. Thank you so much! (P.S. is it worth investing in a soldering iron? only plan on doing 2 or 3 projects and dont want to waste the money. is it something i could rent?)

U.S. Alabama, found out a budy of mine has a decent one. Thanks for all the help!

Did the soldering job, thought it went well until i plugged the mpu6050 back in and i got the connection failure error again. Only reason i can think of is that I fried it somehow (after being very careful), plan on ordering another one unless someone knows of another reason it could still be giving me an error.
