need an AM radio ic

hello guys

i want to make a VHF AM radio that can pick AM stations along with the airband

i saw many circuits online using transistors (super regen) - modified crystal radio ....

but i wanna make something more sophisticated so my question is :

is there is a special AM ic suitable for receiving am that can be modified for VHF

a week ago i bought a TDA7000 fm IC and make the cuircuit and it worked quite well (picked all the stations actually!!)

i saw some AM ic's like the KA22427 but the circuit seems a little bit complicated (with all these
resonance circuits >:( )

so i need another AM radio IC that would be more simpler ? any help .

And this has to do with the Arduino how?

i know it has nothing to do with arduino ! but i dont know any where else to help.

Take a look thru these, see if anything suits your needs.

This one looks good AM FM Sw

How about a TA7642? Just a few external components and you've got a rocket radio!

thanks guys for help but the first 2 ics are smd and couldn't find them where i live.

the TA7642 i looked for it in about 4 big electronics stores with no luck .

is there any alternative for the TA7642 or the MK484 ics that will work with minimum components ?

Where are you located geographically?

Brick and mortar stores are pretty worthless once you get past the very basics. Mail order from a professional electronics supply house is the only sane way to buy parts. Ex, Digikey, Mouser, Newark, etc.

actually i live in india right now and there is no possipility to order parts from the us , amazon , ebay ....
(becouse of the high customs payments and other exusted Procedures)
so i have to stick with what i have here.

but .. i found the TDA7000 although its had production had stopped since 2004
so i think the problem is in the TA7642 and the MK484 .

so iam trying to find another alternatives or a nother am ic that will work with minimum external component
just like them .

Unless you live in Canada. Then you pay in-sane prices for shipping because those companies refuse to ship by the U.S. Postal Service.
