need suggestions on oximeter sensor for wearable applications

Hi all,

I'm currently involved in a project where I need to use pulse oximeter for wearable applications.
Ideally, I'd like to have a thin/miniature, high-performance, low-power, I2C, easy-to use solution.

For fully integrated solution (with integrated LEDs and photodiodes), I have found two:

  • BH1792 from RoHM
  • MAX30100 from Maxim

I have also found quite a few analog-front-end with requires external LEDs and photodiodes, such as:

  • ADPD105 from Analog Devices
  • AFE4400 from TI
  • and a few more...
  1. It appears to me fully integrated solution are most straightforward and less work, are there drawbacks using these components instead?
  2. What would be the advantages using the analog front ends?

I'd appreciate if you could help me finding the most suitable components:

Thank you very much!

State your criteria for "most suitable", including price, effort on your part to implement, the required skill set and your stage of the learning curve, etc.

No.1 Priority is size, but most of these chips have similar range of size, so this really don't matter much
No.2 Priority is the performance (accuracy, reliability, etc.).
No.3 Priority is the ease of implementation, Preferrably less work required from my side. But if there is a benefit of using a specific chip, we have the hw/sw skills or support.

The chip should cost ideally 10 dollar or lower each.
