Hello,
I have Nema17 stepper, model 17HS1401 with phase current 1.3A and Toshiba driver from Pololu, model TB67S249FTG, this is similar to A4988 that I have also tested.
I have Lipo 3S battery connected to GND and VMO with 100 uF condensator. DM2 pin is high to set driver full step mode, STEP and DIR are connected to Arduino Nano BLE.
Arduino sketch tries to run the motor some steps forward and backward.
Now when the motor is not connected to the drive A+,A-,B+,B- I can measure changing voltage about 9V. This proofs that TB67S249FTG is working as expected.
When the stepper motor is connected, it does not turn. If I gradually increase VREF voltage (to allow more current) from the potentiometer the stepper starts making steps, but the wires between GND and VMOT to Lipo 3S get very hot and after few seconds burn. The wires are standard wires with dupont connectors used in the breadboard test connection. If the motor needs max 1.3A, why are the wires burning ?
I have also tested this with A4988 driver, but in this case the motor does not turn at all,
independent of the current limiting potentiometer setting. A4988 processor may be heating too much.
Please post real schematics, not any Fritzing junc.
The motor needs 1.3A per phase, there are two phase coils, so your have to have a power supply that can provide at least 2.6 A, so better make that a 3A supply.
As well as the schematic can you also post a photograph of your circuit.
