Newbie! please help

hi there i am new to using arduino .i tried downloading my progam but i got this erore message

Welcome, lots of others have had the same problem. It appears you have the wrong board selected. Go into tools menu and select the appropriate board. Also if it is a Nano and you get this error after selecting it change it to old bootloader. Good Luck!

I really hope selecting the correct board helped.

I faced a similar error, except the I got resp=0x44.

Hi, I am really new to Arduino. I only have one board from Arduino Start-Kit. It is an Arduino Uno Rev.3. I use Windows 11, used the freshly opened box with a fresh new USB Cable. In my case, I actually had a broken Arduino.
It could have maybe been fixed by flashing the bootloader, but this is advanced stuff and requires a second Arduino, which I didn't have at that time.
The shop replaced it and the replacement is working fine.
