There's nothing at all in the OP's post that could confuse you into thinking s/he is looking for a driver. Perhaps your obvious sunfounder affiliation (_SF in your handle) confuses you into seeing a sunfounder solution in every problem.
If s/he is looking for a motor driver, a 298 is a crap solution in the year 2015. Pololu has a good range of smaller more efficient modern solutions here.
