Playing mp3 files with an arduino

ive been using the vs1053 MP3 player shield but jus cant get it to work, always seems to have a new problem each time i try

does anyone have any other ways of playing MP3 files with an arduino. i tried the grove mnp3 player as well to no avail

There's quite a few discussions here regarding the DFplayer devices, mostly the mini version if I recall.
