Hi everybody,
Following the instructions at this link
I have updated my Portenta X8 using a breakout board and the image from this link
https://downloads.arduino.cc/portentax8image/image-latest.tar.gz?_gl=1*1s3q9l7*_ga*MTU0ODMwNzg1OS4xNjY3NDYyOTEz*_ga_NEXN8H46L5*MTY5MzU1MjY5NS4zNi4xLjE2OTM1NjA3MTQuMC4wLjA.
In my Windows command line I received the confirmation the process went right. At the reboot red led is on, after several seconds blue led start blink and the the leds light off e restart again. I can't see the board anymore when I connect it via USB using ADB or Arduino IDE. I can't find another image to try the process again.
Any suggestion?????
I've got exactly the same problem - using the Portenta Breakout Board + Portenta X8 for updating the software. My solution: do the update with the V3.99 software from https://downloads.arduino.cc/portentax8image/399.tar.gz and flash it in the same way as the update-latest software. After flashing it should be possible to get "back" into the X8 using adb.
Thank you Man!!!!! You saved my board!!!! It was dangerously close to fly over the window!!!! Now I have to solve the problem that convinced me to update the board: configuring SPI.. If you have info about it, it was GREAT!!!!
I'm sorry I don't have any info about configuring SPI. I've got the problem that updating with V.399 brought my board back to life, but now I can't use the online shell as the "adb forward" command fails. Have you got any idea how to fix this?
Unfortunately I don't have any info about it. I'm talking with a guy from the tech support. I'm trying to obtain a newer and stable version of the firmware. If I manage in I I'll let you know.
Sounds great thank you! Beside I found out something very interesting: I was always using a normal USB A to USB C cable connecting the X8 with my laptop. Today I just tried an apple usb c to usb c cable and all of a sudden I can connect to the X8 which has the new software installed (not the V.399) via adb shell.
The tech support guys sent me this link

I flashed the board again but nothing happened. Then I changed the USB port of the PC and the board came back to life. The problem seems to be the board configuration when you connect it to the PC USB
