I am not looking for advice on a project.
I have just completed a project that I have been working on for at least two years. It is really a woodworking/woodturning project but I have used a UNO, Nano, Nano Every and an LCD (my thanks to Bill who sorted the LCD Library problems I was having); I also received help to recognise that I had bought some dud Nanos.
My daughter has completed a video of the project and I just need to know if anybody on the site is interested seeing the Vidoe and if so, where I should post .
If this seems like a strange request it is because I have been reprimanded on more than one occasion for postinjg stuff in the wrong place.
If there is no interest I will not bother to post.
regards
Woodie
Hi @woodie84.
Congratulations!
That's awesome!
I would be interested in seeing it, so if you like you are welcome to share it.
Topics that are for purposes of presenting finished projects (as opposed to requesting project assistance) should be put under the Projects > Showcase forum category.
I only saw one instance:
You chose a category that has the description "DO NOT USE! Please select the appropriate category for your topic.". So I think it is quite reasonable to receive a polite "reprimand" in this case. But as long as you make an effort to choose an appropriate category, no reasonable forum member will be upset even if the one you choose is slightly less than optimal.
it's always nice to see the outcome of a successful project (in the Showcase category).
Best is to post the video on YouTube, make it available publicly, and paste the link in your forum post so that the viewer is directly embedded, making it easy for anyone to see it.
Bonus point if you share technical details, code, circuit etc if you think there would be interest out there for people to duplicate your project.
You can only upload certain filetypes to the forum.
For example, you can't upload .mp4 files
If you put the video on to YouTube, then they provide you with a video link.
You can copy that video link and paste it into a post on the forum, and that video will then appear in your post.
For an example, I posted an oscilloscope video in the post: https://forum.arduino.cc/t/resistor-ladder-simulation/1336038/4
That was done by simply adding the YouTube video link as shown below:
Looking forwards to seeing your project.
3 MCU in the same project?
If so, sounds like it needs a complete redesign before you share it. Otherwise it will probably be criticized for not being a great example for others to follow.
HI John
Thank you for your reply.
I called the project W & B.- Why and Because!
"Why"! Although I am completely unqualified, I love making "off the wall " stuff.
"Because"! Despite my advancing years, I am 87, I can still do that. .
Michelle, my daughter, the one who gave me the marbles in the first place, decided to learn how to produce a video so I could participate in my monthly Woodies Club "show and tell" remotely. Circumstances have prevented me from getting to the club for some time and that is unlikely to change in the immediate future.
She also uploaded it to my webpage in case there is a problem. Not everybody can download you tube videos but webpages are more user friendly. .
This is my webpage link and if you scroll down to Video Clips Clocks in Action you will see it there.
https://timewithcharacter.org/
The website contains a lot of information for anybody interested in the electromagnetic clock in the video. I have a complete technical document that lists every part in the movement (except the wagon wheel that I added later). I have never bothered to put the document on the website but would do that if there is any interest.
For PaulRB. I was about the post and saw your comment and almost changed my mind about posting. There is a saying I recall about "Casting Pearls"!I
I didn't make this for approbation, I made it because I wanted to.
To post that comment before you have even seen it, is the reason people like me are so reluctant to use forums like this. Redesign it so that I wont get criticised - are you serious?
Feel free to criticize. I have been dealing with people like you all my life..

Great work @woodie84! That is a beautiful creation. It is cool to see Arduino used in this application.
What a beautiful example of true craftsmanship. Thank you for sharing.
My new favorite quote
@woodie84 - Spend a little time finding Science and Technology grade schools where your projects will be appreciated and put into your will the agreement you have with them for your Executor to make contact. Your projects will give physical proof to young students what their study of math, science and technology can become. I had to find a taker for an electric train world (7m x 10m) with "N" scale to "HO" scale not addressed on a will. I think every school would invite these examples of what education can become. I am planning this for my electronics - everything Arduino related.
What a breathtaking creation. Every detail speaks of hours poured with commitment and will, and the whole radiates the quiet imprint of your life woven into its form.
I’m impressed by the beauty and care in your work — it’s a testament to your craftsmanship.
With admiration from France — it’s truly extraordinary.
PS: a great idea from your family to document your work and snapshot of your life. Nice video and web site.
Marblelous installation, and a good presentation of it.
Even if it's one installation, the different modules makes it a mini exhibition. Ever thought of a vernissage? Even if you can't be present in person, you could use zoom or Teams, so people can have a chat with you.
Give my best to your daughter, for all the support. ![]()
This would be perfect for the "Showcase" section of the forum:
Amazing. The most beautiful "arduino project" I have ever seen!
Thank you. Like so many other simple and scientifically challenged foot soldiers for whom school resembled a car accident "I had not idea what happened", Arduino, and the thousdands of you tube videos it has inspired, has become the user friendly entree to computing and simple code construction that would otherwise have remained dark, forbidden and mysterious. Rather like a book on a shelf that remained closed and marked with words like "Danger - Science - Do Not Touch".
This forum has become a special place where my simple problems got resolved, nowithstanding the fact that, almost without fail, I posted my questions in the wrong place!
Thank you. I admit to becoming a little angry. To offer that sort of comment before actually seeing the video set me back on my heels a bit. I seriously thought about not posting. But as I thought about it I realised that it was a stupid comment and as cricket lovers would say, let it go through to the keeper.
Thank you. A friend who is an amateur Aviation Historian, had suggest to me that at 87 it is time to write my life story. Instead I recorded salient information for my family on the LCD.
Thank you.
I had to find a way to fill up the vacant space on the table!
I passed your best wishes on to my daughter.
Thank you. My daughter offerred to follow up on your idea for me. When I talked to one of my sons about it, who is a retired teacher, he was also supportive. He explained that it can be difficult to get some people interested in STEM subjects and stuff like this may give it some context.
I had not really thought about doing that. A lot of the stuff on Showcase is way out of my league.
I am not sure how to respond to your comment other than to say thank you.
